HORIZONS REGIONAL COUNCIL POSSUM CONTROL OPERATION

This project involves the servicing of around 28,000 bait stations in a number of blocks from Northern Ruapehu to Tararua in the Horizons region.

Controlling Japanese walnut, Brush wattle, Tutsan and Spanish heath in the Whanganui River trench accessed by jet boat.

HORIZONS REGIONAL COUNCIL FRESHWATER REHABILITATION

We have been involved in a number of riparian planting and freshwater restoration projects in the Whangaehu River catchment.

MATAHIWI PEST PLANT CONTROL

The control of Chinese pennisetum grass, banana passionfruit and woolley nightshade in the Matahiwi region.

DOC INVASIVE SPECIES MONITORING

Monitoring populations of rats, stoats and possums around the Ruapehu region including Rangataua forest, Mangapurua, Erua forest, Mt Ruapehu, Waitotara forest and Ngarakehu reserve. This is achieved through the use of tracking tunnels and wax tags.

FARM REHABILITATION HOROPITO

An ongoing project controlling pest plants (blackberry, cotonester, broom, gorse, Spanish heath and Darwins barberry) and planting natives on farmland in Horopito.

TOKIAHURU STREAM MONITER

Monthly monitoring of the Tokiahuru Stream in Karioi forest including macroinvertebrate sampling plus identification, Walmans walks, sediment analysis, stream chemistry (conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen) and flow.
