ABOUT

Bolt Contracting Ltd was established in 2017 by Dion Hooper with the aim of helping to protect and enhance our environment in both the Ruapehu region and beyond. Furthermore to provide jobs in conservation and improve the knowledge and skills of local workers through up-skilling and on the job experience. The aim of the company is something that all staff are passionate about and this shows in our company culture and work ethic. We strive to continually improve performance and do our bit to help make New Zealand the greatest living space on Earth.

THE TEAM

The Bolt Contracting Ltd team is currently made up of eight members from a wide variety of backgrounds who display a diverse range of skills and expertise. We aim to create a safe, healthy and fun workplace for employees where compliance with all the relevant environmental and health & safety legislation is a minimum level of performance.

DION HOOPER

Director/Operations Manager

Dion is the business founder and director/operations manager, he has over 10 years experience in pest management and running pest control operations. This experience coupled with his local knowledge, communication skills and passion for the environment aid in running a successful and well organised company.

TE MAIRE HAWIRA

Pest Plant Team Leader

Te Maire is the team leader of the pest plant segment of Bolt Contracting Ltds business. Te Maire is responsible for helping to organize contracts and managing work in the field. Born and bred of the Ruapehu region, Te Maire has an abundance of local knowledge. He is also a keen hunter, learner and man of the outdoors.

Favourite creature native to Aotearoa: Pipiwharauroa or Kōura

MARK MASTROVICH

Predator Control Team Leader

Mark has a number of years experience working for Bolt Contracting Ltd in the predator and plant teams. He holds a current controlled substance licence and a National Certificate in rural pest management and is the company Health and Safety representative. Mark grew up in National Park and Taumarunui and has gained extensive knowledge of the region as well as being a keen hunter and chef.

CLAYTON HAWORTH

Senior Field Operator

Clayton is the predator control team leader who has over 10 years experience in predator control including 6 years with DOC Pipiriki. He is a licenced jet boat driver with expertise in a wide range of fields through his work for Bolt Contracting Ltd and the Department of Conservation.

LAURANCE WILLIAMSON

Senior Field Operator

Laurence has over 10 years experience in predator control and worked for the Department of Conservation for 6 years with DOC Pipiriki prior to employment with Bolt Contracting Ltd. He has great local and regional knowledge and is a licenced jet boat driver.

JAHZAY MURU-ALBERT

Field Operator

Jahzay is new to the field operations team, starting his career in conservation in the pest plant team. He is a skilled rugby player and is an active member of our team here at Bolt Contracting

MEGAN YOUNGER

Administration & Projects Manager

Megan is a conservation ecologist by training; but for Bolt Contracting she is responsible for the office work behind the scenes organizing contracts and policies, HR, health and safety and helping to ensure the business runs smoothly. Megan is has had 5+ years of experience in managing ecological projects and monitoring programs.
