ABOUT

Bolt Contracting Ltd was established in 2017 by Dion Hooper with the aim of helping to protect and enhance our environment in both the Ruapehu region and beyond. Furthermore to provide jobs in conservation and improve the knowledge and skills of local workers through up-skilling and on the job experience. The aim of the company is something that all staff are passionate about and this shows in our company culture and work ethic. We strive to continually improve performance and do our bit to help make New Zealand the greatest living space on Earth.

THE TEAM

The Bolt Contracting Ltd team is currently made up of eight members from a wide variety of backgrounds who display a diverse range of skills and expertise. We aim to create a safe, healthy and fun workplace for employees where compliance with all the relevant environmental and health & safety legislation is a minimum level of performance.

DION HOOPER

Director/Operations Manager/ Pest Plant Team Lead

Dion is the business founder and director/operations manager, he has over 10 years experience in pest management and running pest control operations. This experience coupled with his local knowledge, communication skills and passion for the environment aid in running a successful and well organised company.

MARK MASTROVICH

Predator Control - Team Leader - Ohakune

Mark has a more then 5 years experience working for Bolt Contracting Ltd in the predator and plant teams. He holds a current controlled substance licence and a National Certificate in rural pest management and is the company Health and Safety representative. Mark grew up in National Park and Taumarunui and has gained extensive knowledge of the region as well as being a keen hunter and chef.

Willie Marsh

 Predator Control - Team Leader - Taumaranui

Willie has been working with Bolt since late 2024. Willie has over 15 years' experience in pest control operations and management plus a couple of years in the forestry industry. Willie is an absolute weapon in the bush and when he isn't working in the bush, you will usually find him out there camping in it. His experience in professional possum control is almost un-matched

Brendan Craw

Senior Field Operator

Brendan has been working at Bolt for over a year now and really loves the fitness that comes with the job. He comes from a farming background with over 15 years' experience in the industry.

Kevin McDonnell

Field Operator

Kevin has over plenty of local knowledge growing up in Ohakune and Raetihi. Kevin came to Bolt mid 2025 with a raft of outdoor experience been a keen kai gatherer and Beekeeper for the previous 10 years.

Ross Mastrovich

Field Operator - Pest Plants

Ross has recently returned to Bolt Contracting after a stint back in the chef's kitchen. Ross has already worked for Bolt in the past for about a year and a half, so he comes back with previous experience. Ross has a passion for photography and the outdoors and you may have seen some photos of his in the National Geography magazine .

Brenda Webb

Administration

Brenda is a born and bred local excel wiz. After working at the WPI pulp mill for 18 years she was looking for a new adventure after the Mills closure. Brenda joined Bolt at the start of 2025 and is loving the new things she is learning about our industry.
